Review:

Tim: Molly Shannon sucks. Now, I know that probably seems a little harsh, but I just find her 100% annoying and 0% funny. I do not get her in the least. If you watch SNL, she manages to be unfunny for the few minutes of whatever skit she's in. That is intolerable. When you give her an 81 minute comedy that focuses almost all the attention on her, we're approaching "crimes against humanity" territory. This movie is truly godawful.

I honestly, honestly do not understand how anyone finds the character of Mary Katherine Gallagher funny. She's a lame, poorly written, annoying waste of a character. You can make stupid, unenlightened characters funny, but that never occurred to Shannon. Watching her in this role is like listening to nails on a chalkboard while someone repeatedly punches you in the face while gripping a roll of quarters. I will never forgive Shannon for creating this awful film.

The story feels like it was written by someone in a drunken stupor using only their left hand on a keyboard missing letters. I just do not get how any rational, intelligent person could think this movie was worthwhile. It's a generic, unfunny, lowest common denominator comedy. Shannon deserves a massive helping of blame, but the writers should be punished as well.

Will Ferrell is okay, I suppose. He didn't really do anything exciting or especially funny, but he wasn't Molly Shannon, so he gets major points for that. I actually can't believe this, but Harland Williams was the best part of the entire film. Read that again. Harland freakin' Williams was the best part of this movie. In what bizarro world did we stumble into? When Williams is the highlight of the film, you know things have gone horribly and irreparably wrong.

I literally did not laugh one time in this course of this movie. Not once. I am trying to remember if I even smirked, but if I did, it was so absolutely tiny as to be near unnoticeable. The major feelings I experienced were utter boredom, complete and total annoyance, and anger at everyone involved.

I could go on, but why bother? I've already spent more time and energy on this short review than anyone bothered in making this movie. Superstar isn't the worst movie in the world, I admit. But man, is this one awful, stupid, worthless film. I wish I never sat down to watch this.
