Review:

Tim: I love the idea of a science fiction movie about a war between humans and insects. Nothing inspires pride in humanity like having it faced with an enemy disgustingly unlike themselves.

This is a very gritty film. There are some pretty gruesome scenes, both of insects and especially involving humans. It is a sci-fi film, but even moreso, a war movie.

The cast isn't incredible, but suprisingly do a fantastic job. Casper Van Dien strongly and cooly leads the cast. Dina Meyer has never been more stunning. Her strange relationship with Dien's character makes the movie worth seeing. Denise Richards, Jake Busey, and Neil Patrick Harris all give good supporting roles.

The special effects are outstanding. The bugs look terrifyingly real. The scenes with thousands of them are crazy and something to see.

Near the end of the movie, there is a very touching moment that adds a real human feel to the film. Starship Troopers is such a great movie because the characters are so real and genuine. We identify with them and live and die with them.

This is a fun, different movie. People will (and have) definitely criticized it, but it is far better than you've heard.
