Review:

Tim: What can you say about one of the most beloved movies of all time? It is remarkable how this movie found an audience on DVD and transformed from an award-losing film into the most absolute favorite film of many, many people. While I do live this movie and admit it is excellent, I am not quite as fanatic as many people. Regardless, Stephen King is a superb writer, and has a knack for prison movies. His writing has been transformed into a number of movies, many of them quite good. This is perhaps the crown jewel, the pinnacle of King movies.

Tim Robbins is incredible in his role. He has that quiet strength and dignity that was so instrumental to his character. He is exactly the man we want taking us on this journey. Morgan Freeman is every bit as good as Robbins, and delivers an excellent performance. These two men work extremely well together, and the best moments are the ones when these two great actors interact on screen. I sincerely hope Robbins and Freeman make more movies together.

This movie is incredibly heartwarming, and this comes from the story- about a place devoid of hope, where time has no place except to remind the inmates that they are getting older and their lives are slowly slipping away. In this terrible place, it is remarkable that two men could find such friendship, loyalty, and ultimately, hope. The Shawshank Redemption is such a good movie because in the midst of all the evil and the darkness at Shawshank, you can still find hope, love, and light. That is why this movie is so powerful and so uplifting, and why it is beloved by audiences everywhere and will continue to inspire generations for years to come.
