Review:

Tim: This animated feature has an absolutely stunning voice cast. While that is enough to warrant a view, the film makes a surprisingly small impact on us. Sure, the movie is entertaining. Save for one or two moments, you will really enjoy yourself. However, there is just not enough new and exciting to cause this film to stand out from the plethora of animated films rolling out of Hollywood these days.

Will Smith is good in the lead role. He has an extraordinarily distinct voice, and he should do more voice work in the future. The rest of the cast is decent, but not really great. The film scores some points because of its casting choices and making the fish characters resembling their human voice counterparts (Robert De Niro's character has his trademark mole). While this is entertaining for adult viewers, kids won't have a clue, and De Niro, Renee Zellweger, Jack Black, and Angelina Jolie don't do anything too spectacular to impress. I will admit Martin Scorsese does a surprisingly good job and I really enjoyed him in the role.

Shark Tale is an entertaining kids' film. I can find very little to fault with it. It tells a good story, and there are some humorous moments. The problem is that there is just nothing that impressive. I could definitely watch the movie 5-7 more times, but I could also never watch it again and be perfectly content with that scenario. Regardless, people will like this movie, and you might as well see it so as not to be left out.
