Summary: A writer (Johnny Depp) works alone in a cabin trying to overcome his divorce and other problems, when a stranger (John Turturro) arrives, accusing him of plagiarism. The stranger will not stop until he admits the story was stolen, and if he doesn't, the result could be deadly.

Review:

Tim: Secret Window is very similar to most Stephen King film adaptations (and there have been many)- it is semi-frightening, mostly cheesy, and you just know in your gut that the book has to be better. This film is one of King's better film adaptations, which isn't saying too much.

Johnny Depp is a tremendous actor and brings a great deal of charisma to the film. His performance is right up there with his other incredibles ones, but he is stuck in a movie that does not do his effort justice.

The supporting cast isn't very good. John Turturro is pretty creepy, but fails in comparison to some of the greater creepy characters out there. The rest of the supporting cast, including Maria Bello isn't even worth writing about. They pretty much just serve as filler.

King's plot is semi-predictable and the film doesn't try too hard to cover up the secret truth before the point of revelation. I had a good idea of what the twist would be and I was right. To make matters worse, the plot has been done before and in a much better way.

However, despite all its flaws, Secret Window is decently suspenseful and worth checking out once. Don't expect very much, however, because you will undoubtedly be disappointed.
