Review:

Tim: I was a huge fan of both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns (moreso the first than the second), so I was pretty excited about this film. Also, it stars the Rock, the greatest superstar to come out of WWF Wrestling. However, its also important to note that this film is a spin off of the beforementioned films, and everyone knows few spin offs meet the expectations of the original film. Such is the case with The Scorpion King.

The film itself offers just enough action and excitement to keep it interesting, but offers very little we haven't seen before. The film is plagued by some awful writing-- the Rock actually says, "I've come for the woman... and your head." and some quite unbelievable scenes-- how did he not burn his hands when he was fighting with the flaming swords?? But, if you are willing to greatly suspend your belief and overlook plot holes the size of the one in the ozone, you might just enjoy this film.

If you have nothing better to do, The Scorpion King won't be a complete waste of your time, but I'd greatly recommend watching The Mummy or The Mummy Returns instead of this film.
