Review:

Tim: This is my type of film- a sprawling action-adventure starring an Indiana Jones type adventurer, with a few instances of superb humor thrown in. The only bad thing about this movie is that audiences didn't go out in droves to see it, which jeopardizes a chance for a sequel. Regardless, this film is fantastic.

Matthew McConaughy is everything you could expect in Dirk Pitt. He is charasmatic, heroic, and cool. You can't help being impressed with him. He has a terrific partner in Steve Zahn, a wise-cracking, talented, and hilarious sidekick. These two have such amazing chemistry together and are just so fun to watch on screen.

Penelope Cruz is a good love interest for McConaughy and is surprisingly believable as a World Health Organization doctor. She's exactly the type of person you want in the role. William H. Macy is very good as well in his smaller supporting role.

The action is terrific. From the speedboat chase on the African river to hopping aboard a moving train, to battling a helicopter with an old fashioned cannon, Dirk Pitt and his crew provide us with a jaw-dropping, memorable adventure. Sure, some of the lesser plots are a bit absurd, but that doesn't lessen our enjoyment of the wild ride.

Sahara is a fast-paced action-adventure in the spirit of Indiana Jones and James Bond. The movie is nonstop action, thrills, and laughs, and you would be crazy not to love every minute of it. This is the most fun you will have at the movies in a long, long time.
