Review:

Tim: This is a film that few people today have heard about, but it is truly an excellent movie. It is emotional, heartbreaking, and yet, uplifting. The story is set against the backdrop of South Africa, full of its racism and internecine tribal warfare. We follow a young white boy as he grows up, learns the way of the world, and ultimately, becomes a "Rainmaker."

The film features some absolutely amazing music, by Hans Zimmer. The music makes this movie infinitely better thn it would be. Listen for the Southland Concerto, the most recognizable song, and the film's most powerful. This is a hugely important part of the movie.

The cast is excellent. Stephen Dorff is good as the teenage P.K., but all of the actors that play P.K. throughout his life are excellent. Simon Fention is especially good. The film also has Morgan Freeman, who is always so reliable. He gives another fantastic performance here. He is just such an excellent actor, and he's so, so good here. Also watch for Daniel Craig in an unlikely, thankless, unlikable role.

So much pain and anguish occurred in South Africa during one of its darkest times. This makes for a very dramatic story. The events here are not always easy to watch. We see first hand some of the most horrendous acts, as human beings treat other human beings like they were trash. This is terrible to see, but we also see the best parts of humanity- the show of love, hope, and faith.

The Power of One is a very good movie. It tells a wonderful story while providing a great deal of entertainment. The cast is very good, featuring another impressive performance by Freeman. This is an extremely emotional movie, and you should thoroughly enjoy it. Too few of these kinds of movies are made, and that's a shame, because we need more movies like this.
