Review:

Tim: This is another one of those political thrillers that was much more effective when it was first released and has since become quite dated. The film's premise still works today and remains a legitimate threat, but th emovie's portrayal of said threat feels silly.

The global nuclear weapons conspiracy makes sense, and the film moves quickly in its pacing. There are some truly intense scenes and a few memorable action sequences.

George Clooney and Nicole Kidman work pretty well together. Clooney is very good in these kind of roles, even if he's not always completely believable. He is entertaining and fun to watch in the role. He interacts well with Kidman. Kidman herself does a good job as well. She doesn't blow you away, but plays the part solidly. A big draw for this film involved the pairing of Clooney and Kidman, and they don't disappoint.

The plot is decent enough, as our protagonists try to track down some stolen nuclear warheads before terrorists can explode them on American soil. The film's intensity is helped from the opening scene of the nuclear explosion, as we realize the film is not afraid to do something drastic. Add in one of the best portrayals of a terrorist (not as a one-dimensional monster, but as a complex human being), and you know this film is worth seeing.

The Peacemaker may be a bit dated, but the movie is still a decent political action-thriller, starring Clooney and Kidman working well together, and moves quickly enough to keep you thoroughly interested from start to finish. This film may not make the top part of your To-See lis, but it should at least be on there.
